It was GOOD

For some it's about the food, for others it's an opportunity to be with family.

An Altered State

Constantly reminded by my wife’s  actions and doings that you have strife to be a better person. Obviously you can’t take back what you have done, but move on and remind yourself to do better. Being away makes the heart grow stronger. I miss the hustle and bustle and just the presence.  Seeing others that are struggling with their daily life makes you feel so fortunate to be healthy and strong. I have two feet and they are sometimes otherwise occupied. Back to that proverb, The path is easy yet people prefer by paths. Gray sky’s are predominant here, but trying to remember to find the beauty in them. Or at least an alternate Beauty!

Diamonds

‘Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun
Shine on you crazy diamond”

You are a lucky lady. Finding and holding friends is a precious gift.

The Event

I would usually post a picture but my day was a little traumatic. Picked up Tee Kennedy, a mother from my coaching days a a delightful person. Sadly she hasn’t been doing so well in recent years. We were at Seva and she had a seizure. It was hard to see somebody go thru what was happening to her body. She stayed so calm and talked herself and me thru to event. Her husband was able to get to the restaurant with 10-12 minutes. What a great guy. This has to be hard on both of them. I stayed calm and assisted her thru breathing and giving her the medication she had. All seems to have ended well and she texted me later that she was resting and warm. Heartbreaking, is all I can say.

IKEA

IKEA and meatballs. Somehow comfortable together. Lot’s of good ideas for furnishing the home. Putting it together isn’t something I would look forward too.

County Farm and Signs

Weather was sunny and in the 40’s, so I took a walk over to County Farm and made a big loop thru the old neighborhood and back along Packard. Note that the old house looked sad and unkempt. They do have Central Air now.

Count Down

I guess the count down begins today. Back to Honolulu next Monday. Have felt very comfortable in at Lillian Hale. Just a very nice home. Have been in contact with old friends and nice to have John and April nearby. Worked out with John at the WCC Rec Building. Very impressive. Walked to the Country Rec on Sunday. Found it very serviceable and not as bad as anticipated. Weather is cold, but what do you expect. Just trying to keep moving on.

Works from my visit Downtown. Also visited A2 Art Center. Still a nice town. Strangely familiar.

New inspiration

Little Studio space set up in basement. Serving it’s purpose for now. I only have some pencils and a cheap watercolor set.
Also out and about today. Possible ideas for paintings and drawing in the future. Different kind of beauty, but still beautiful.

Simple Joys

One of the simple joys of living in the neighborhood is how easily I can go to the Bookstore and on the way back stop at the Bike Shop. This would be a major outing to think about in Honolulu. Oh, by the way it was awfully cold. In Honolulu I would be in shorts.

I don’t belong here,
I’m out of sync with what’s around me.
My Heart doesn’t belong here;
It beats out of time,
like a drum in the wrong song.
Oh, how I wish for a breeze to find me;

I’d scatter like confetti into the air,
Ending up in one million different places at once.
What a magical escape.

Monday, November 11, 2019

Well, I guess I should have guessed that it would snow while I am visiting the bird house @ Lillian Hale. Feel surprisingly calm about the situation, but suspect it is because I will eventually be heading back to the warmth of Hawaii. The new house is really quite comfortable. Extremely quiet and room to move. The kitchen is especially nice. Don’t think we have ever had one as nice as this. I look forward to sharing all of this with Sugar and Kali. Maybe it’s the distance, but Hawaii just seems like a wonderful dream. Feel at home here in Ann Arbor and love the neighborhood we chose.

Snowing all day long and have had to go out and shovel 3 times. The accumulation seems close to 12 inches, but we shall see what the official number will be. Looks like a record for Nov. 11th. I spent Sunday mowing and generally working on the yard. I felt it looked pretty good and suspect it will eventually be really nice. I picked up a rental car on Saturday and was able to get to Ace Hardware and pick up a snow shovel. Thank God for that! Feel like if you don’t have to go to work it’s not such a terrible inconvenience. Certainly not something I love, but feel resigned to nature doing it’s thing. Anyway I am sore from all the shoveling and see we elderly people might have heart attacks trying to deal the the stuff.

Just a thought about the Grand Salon or Drawing Room. Maybe it should be furnished with comfortable chairs and a chaise lounge, no sofa. And since I have all this time trapped inside the house, I think we should use the front bedroom as a Mini Master. The Master could be turned into a Master She Den. Just thinking.

Promise

I promise to always wear my shirt in the house!

I'll burn my eyes out if I go in, so I'm stuck outside.
Do you really want to see this!
Yu stin ke pu, as they say in Chinese.

New Year 2024 same old me

I tell myself I am searching for something. But more and more, it feels like I am wandering, waiting for something to happen to me, somethin...
